I’d like to introduce you to Aimee Marks; a forward-thinker, a revolutionist, an entrepreneur, a mother and business woman! I was lucky enough to interview this down-to-earth natural beauty for my blog series focusing on highlighting real, natural and inspiring women.
1. How do you take time out daily/weekly/monthly for self care?
Daily, there is nothing that makes me feel better in a half hour period than exercising.
At least once a week I love to sit outside in the sunshine and have breakfast on my own to clear my mind and start the day. I find that I am so much more productive when I have this transition in the morning from being a Mum to getting my head into work mode.
Every few months, my husband Chris and I like to go on a mini break with the girls to the beach or to the country. It’s a nice time for us as a family to disconnect from our day-to-day routine at home and to recharge.
2. What are your top natural beauty tips for creating a healthier life?
In creating a healthier life, I believe that beauty comes from within, so in my eyes the key to a healthy glow is from nourishing your body on the inside – it makes such a difference to the way you look and feel.
I have an organic fruit and vegetable box delivered which ensures that I am fuelling my body with goodness by eating fresh and seasonal produce every week.
I know it sounds simple, but hydration is a key component to maintaining a healthy body. I always carry a glass water bottle around to encourage me to drink more. When I am not drinking water, I love sipping on a warm green tea or an organic cold pressed juice. It’s like having an internal bath – it’s the best way to drench your insides with antioxidants and vitamins.
3. What three products can you not live without?
Sodashi face products – they are pure enough to eat, literally. I can do everything that a beauty therapist would do in a day spa at home– face mask, cleanse, moisture. Having my twin daughters Poppy and Ivy has taught me to do things quickly.
Dry body brushing is also a simple ritual that I do a twice a week to gently exfoliate and increase circulation.
When I get out of the shower, I like to use the Aspar Grapefruit and Rosehip organic body oil from Aurora Spa. It absorbs straight into my skin and leaves it feeling soft and moisturised.
4. What is your favourite way to exercise?
I try to get outside as much as I can with the girls and go for walks to our local parks, along St Kilda beach or around our neighborhood. I get to either a yoga or Pilates class every week and I have started boxing during the week for half hour sessions.
5. What has been your biggest ‘ah-ha’ moment in the natural beauty world?
Beauty is what is on the inside. It’s all about the cumulative effective of what you put into your mouth and on your body.
6. How do you add a little luxe to your life?
Every now and then I treat myself with a long soak in the bath and a blow wave from Organika Hair in Elwood. Soaking up some Vitamin D in the sunshine is also a luxury.

Aimee Marks is the Founder and CEO of TOM Organic – the leading organic feminine hygiene brand in Australia. What started as a simple frustration for Aimee, soon evolved into a quest for social responsibility and eventually into the development of TOM Organic.
Aimee was 18 when she decided to redesign conventional tampon packaging. She was tired of finding stray tampons rolling around her handbag and wanted to design packs that didn’t involuntarily open. But as soon as she hit the ingredients list, her focus changed completely.
When she learned of the pesticides and synthetics used in conventional female hygiene products, coupled with the fact that these products are used in and around one of the most absorbent parts of a woman’s body, Aimee was inspired to develop a range of pure personal care products that are both good for the body and the planet. Non-organic cotton is one of the most heavily sprayed crops in the world and TOM Organic provides women the choice they deserve.
TOM Organic was officially founded in 2009 and was stocked in a number of health food stores across Melbourne, before the national supermarkets (Coles & Woolworths) ranged TOM Organic in 2012, proving that it is possible to be a thriving business and a force for good at the same time.
Aimee, now aged 29, won the Telstra Victorian Young Business Women’s Award in November 2013 and more recently, won RMIT Outstanding Alumni of the year and Australian Organic Young Leader of the year for 2014.
